The LORD will bless you and protect you.
The LORD will make his face shine on you and give you grace.
The LORD will turn his face toward you and give you peace.
They will put my name on the Israelites and I will bless themוְשָׂמוּ אֶת-שְׁמִי, עַל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל; וַאֲנִי, אֲבָרְכֵם.
(Numbers 6:24-27.
The three verses of the Priestly Blessing are meant to nurture us with the most healing energies of Hesed – Loving-kindness and grace. This energy of Hesed serves as an active force of balancing. Hence the three verses representing the three basic elements of Water, Fire and Air that are similar to the Positive, Negative poles of a light bulb and the filament that enables light generating flow of energy in the system. The priestly blessing is one of the most ancient forms of amulets known to researchers. Amulets with the words of the Priestly Blessing have been found dated from the 7th century BC (2,700 years ago), during the time of the first temple. The source for people carrying this text on themselves comes from the verse concluding the blessing: "They will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them." (Numbers 6:27) The literal meaning of this verse is that carrying God’s name brings God's bliss to the person doing it. The general idea behind carrying amulets with God's holy names on their body is that by doing so the person marks himself as part of God's territory, outside the domain of any dark powers. This idea gives another meaning to: “You shall not carry the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name." (Exodus 20:7). In this case the word - "carry", means literally carrying God's name on a person's body. In this case, carrying God names in vain could mean behaving in an inappropriate behavior while carrying God's name.
